Hadi Momeni’s on Raoof Dashti’s Curtain Call on Akkasee Website

Akkasee.com has published a review by Hadi Momeni on Raouf Dashti’s solo exhibition “Curtain Call.” Curated by Maryam Majd in collaboration with the Pejman Foundation: Argo Factory, this exhibition was held in May and June 2025. It marked the fifth solo show of this multidisciplinary artist, featuring three video works and eighteen photographs.
In his review, which delves into the conceptual foundations of Dashti’s exhibition, Momeni writes:
“Throughout the history of images, there have always been concepts that remain on the margins yet fundamentally shape the act of seeing. The ‘curtain’ is one such concept: a tangible object that inherently carries theoretical, historical, aesthetic, and dramatic connotations. In painting, theatre, photography, and even in our everyday encounters with space and vision, the curtain not only conceals but also frames, sets boundaries, and makes the act of presentation possible.
In ‘Final Applause,’ Raouf Dashti approaches the ‘curtain’ not as a background or foreground, but as the central subject of contemplation—an element that prompts us to rethink the nature of the image, the position of the viewer, and the relationship between seeing and not-seeing…”
