We are pleased to announce MMAP’s collaboration with Aaran Art Projects in the group exhibition, Iran: Black or White. This project challenges the common perception of Iranian art and culture being viewed through the simplistic dichotomy of black and white, inviting instead the world to see it in all its diversity and complexity.
As part of our “Projects and Collaborations” agenda to collaborate with other galleries and art institutions, we have included works of several artists with whom we work closely.
The featured artists include Raheleh Nooravar (b. 1984, based inTehran), showcasing a morphologically intricate sculpture from her Biosis series, characterized by themes of regeneration and observation; Morteza Ahmadvand (b. 1981, based in Tehran), presenting a video installation that explores the concept of freedom and shifting circumstances; Payam Mofidi (b. 1980, based in Montreal), exhibiting four photo-etchings that focus on the puissant nature of humankind; Shahpari Behzadi (b. 1973, based inTehran), displaying an abstract polyptych painting incorporating Iranian motifs and geometric forms; and Morteza Ardalan (b. 1989, based in Tehran), presenting two of his signature abstract minimalistic sculptures, characterized by the concept of space and form.
