MMAP announces the participation of its founding director, Maryam Majd as one of the lecturers at the 10-Day School of Art Curation held at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran on the 20th of February, 2025.

This intensive program brought together curators, artists, and art professionals to explore the key aspects of curatorial practices. Not only was it designed for those looking to refine their curatorial skills but also inexperienced individuals starting from scratch, the course provided a structured approach to understanding the complexities of art curation in both local and international contexts.

The program featured a diverse line-up of speakers addressing different aspects of curatorial work. Sajjad Baghban, Behnam Kamrani, and Maryam Esfandiari introduced the foundations of curating, while Takin Aghdashloo spoke on its history. Maryam Majd examined the significance of organizing art events, and Arash Tanhai discussed exhibition design, from conceptualization to execution. Other key topics included research and proposal writing by Maryam Esfandiari, media and branding in the art world by Hossein Ganji, legal aspects of exhibitions by Mehdi Kouhian, and curating for the international market by Behrang Samadzadegan. Farhang Parsikia focused on innovative technologies in curating, Hamidreza Sheshjavani delved into the economics of art, and Mohammad Beheshti closed the program with a discussion on curating Iranian art.

Many of these topics align with the core principles of MMAP’s Department of Education and Training, which was founded to address the lack of formal academic programs in local art management. Through private and semi-private courses, MMAP has provided specialized training in areas such as curatorial practices, art management, exhibition planning, archive management. Designed for aspiring gallerists, young managers, and gallery assistants, these courses offer practical knowledge essential for navigating the visual arts ecosystem, reinforcing MMAP’s commitment to developing expertise within the field.
