Archive Workshop

Education

In Summer 2024, Maryam Majd Art Projects (MMAP) organized a two-day workshop on archiving, held at the MMAP office. The sessions took place on September 21 and 22, and participants received a certificate of attendance upon completion.

This practical and theoretical workshop was designed for those interested in the subject of archives within the visual arts. The program provided an intensive introduction to the concepts and functions of archiving, while also guiding participants through the practical process of designing and creating part of an archive from scratch.

The workshop was specifically developed for artists and professionals working within the operational framework of the visual arts. Key topics included: the history of archiving in global and Iranian contexts, the necessity and function of archives within the art ecosystem, and the process of needs assessment and designing both the structure and infrastructure of an archive.

As part of its ongoing services, MMAP has previously offered customized, private archive courses for art business managers and professionals.

The workshop was led by Maryam Majd, Founding Director of MMAP, and Azarakhsh Asgari, Head of Archives and Collections at MMAP.
